Le Centre de Recherches Anglophones

Le Centre de Recherches Anglophones (CREA) poursuit, depuis sa création en 1992, un projet de recherche sur le monde anglophone, envisagé comme aire linguistique et culturelle. Son projet s’organise autour des objets constitutifs du champ des études anglaises et américaines : littératures, histoires et cultures, langues et langage, arts, dynamiques politiques et sociales contemporaines. La recherche porte sur les manifestations actuelles et le devenir de l’aire anglophone, ainsi que sur les différentes étapes de son histoire du XVIe siècle au XXIe siècle.

Teaching public speaking: stakes, cross-cultural perspectives, proposals

The purpose of this one-day conference is to bring together scholars in order to foster a constructive, interdisciplinary (e.g. linguistics, education sciences, discourse analysis, sociology, anthropology, communication sciences) and cross-cultural debate on the types of concepts, approaches and skills which deserve attention - and which may warrant further attention by educational policy makers - in the context of the teaching of public speaking and oratory skills in all its forms (speech, debating, other types of digital public speaking with a live or asynchronous audience, according to specific academic or professional cultures) in the contemporary context.

Séminaire OAB 'Angloseen': an Ecocritical Reading of British Art History

Sophie Mesplède (Rennes 2) and Charlotte Gould (Paris Nanterre) discuss the 'Angloseen', a concept they came up with over the course of the many years they have collaborated in interrogating the possiblity for an ecocritical reading of British Art. Hampstead Heath will serve as a case study for this discussion with many examples of artists representing or intervening on the Heath ranging from David Martin, Ford Madox Brown, JMW Turner, John Constable, Andy Goldsworthy, Derek Jarman, or more recently Mikéla Henry-Lowe.
