Le Centre de Recherches Anglophones

This international conference aims to prompt new reflections on the aesthetics and politics of sex in the modernist period—both in the sense of probing sexual difference and of mapping the uncharted territories of sexual desire. We invite papers tracing novel intersections across questions of sexuality and gender, class, race, and disability, or offering new perspectives on these well-known early twentieth-century scandals, tensions and debates around sex and sexuality.

The purpose of this one-day conference is to bring together scholars in order to foster a constructive, interdisciplinary (e.g. linguistics, education sciences, discourse analysis, sociology, anthropology, communication sciences) and cross-cultural debate on the types of concepts, approaches and skills which deserve attention - and which may warrant further attention by educational policy makers - in the context of the teaching of public speaking and oratory skills in all its forms (speech, debating, other types of digital public speaking with a live or asynchronous audience, according to specific academic or professional cultures) in the contemporary context.

Trois unités de recherche – Études romanes (CRIIA-REDES), CRPM (Centre de Recherches Pluridisciplinaires Multilingues) et CREA (Centre de Recherches Anglophones) – du Département de LEA (Langues étrangères appliquées) de l’Université Paris Nanterre proposent une thématique transversale pour leur première rencontre internationale : Interactions : agir et réagir en contexte d’interculturalité et d’interdisciplinarité. Ces mouvements – l’agir et le réagir – ont été largement étudiés dans diverses disciplines, telles que la sociologie, les études culturelles, la linguistique ou encore la didactique.
